Hoped for Outcomes
It might be useful for us to think a bit about the outcomes we'd like to see as a result of our work. I'd like to see the Libraries receive more indirect cost recovery money; I'd like to see a new seamless service model which is less collections/place-based and more reflective of the interdisciplinarity of research; and I'd like to see the development of new services designed to better meet the needs of off-campus researchers.

To answer Sandy's questions, as I see it the report is to help the Libraries better understand the needs of researchers, faculty, and students in the Biosciences given the the expansion of multidisciplinary research and instruction, the the increasing dispersed geographic distribution of research sites, changing usage patterns, etc. (to lift some ideas from our charge!) Basically, we have been asked to review the current situation and to make recommendations as to how the Libraries can best support teaching, learning, and research in the Biosciences.
The immediate audience is Betsy, the Cabinet, etc. I hope that our report will serve as both an assessment of the current situation and plan for the future. Other thoughts?
